코로나19의  장기화와 그에 따른 사회 및 경제적 영향 속에서, 중국은 대유행과 맞서 싸우는 아세안 국가들을 도왔다.

지금까지 중국은 아세안 회원국들에게 3억도스 이상의 코로나 백신을 제공했으며, 그외의 의료팀 및 많은 응급 의료품을 지원했다.

베트남을 예로 들어 호치민시의 중국 총영사관에 따르면, 중국은 올해 기증 및 판매한 백신을 모두 합하여, 거의 4000만도스의 백신을 베트남에 제공하기로 합의했다고 한다.

중국은 백신 제공 외에도 무역, 투자, 운송, 관광을 가속화하는 발판 역할을 해왔다고 베트남 관리들과 경제학자들은 말했다.

한편, 중국은 국경을 넘는 철도 서비스의 개시를 통해 아세안에서의 무역을 적극적으로 촉진하고 있다고 국영 베트남 철도공사의 한 관리가 신화통신에 말했다.

중국의 공식 자료에 따르면 중국과 아세안의 교역은 1991년 80억 달러 미만에서 2020년 6846억 달러로 85배 급증해 양측의 최대 교역국이 됐다.

중국은 지난해 11월 중국과 아세안 10개 회원국 등 아시아태평양 15개국이 체결한 역내포괄적경제동반자협정(RCEP) 비준을 비아세안 국가로는 처음으로 완료했다.

세계 GDP의 30%에 해당하는 26조2000억 달러 규모의 RCEP는 세계 최대 자유무역협정(FTA)이다.

HANOI, Oct. 27 - Amid the prolonged COVID-19 outbreaks and the ensuing social and economic impacts, China has helped the ASEAN (the Association of Southeast Asian Nations) countries with their battle against the pandemic.

So far, China has provided ASEAN member states with over 300 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines, a great number of emergency medical supplies in addition to the support of medical teams.

Take Vietnam, for example, China has agreed to provide Vietnam with nearly 40 million doses of vaccines, including donated and sold ones this year, according to the Chinese Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City.

In addition to the provision of vaccines, China has acted as a springboard for countries to speed up trade, investment, transport and tourism, said Vietnamese officials and economists.

Meanwhile, China is actively facilitating trade in ASEAN with the launches of cross-border railway services, an official at the state-owned Vietnam Railway Corporation told Xinhua on Monday.

According to China's official data, trade between China and ASEAN skyrocketed by 85 times to 684.6 billion U.S. dollars in 2020 from less than 8 billion U.S. dollars in 1991, making the two sides each other's largest trading partners.

China was also the first non-ASEAN member to complete ratification of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) inked by 15 Asia-Pacific countries, including China and ASEAN's 10 member states in November last year.

Covering a region with a combined GDP of 26.2 trillion U.S. dollars, or about 30 percent of global GDP, RCEP is the world's largest free trade deal.
