중국의 광산 회사인 '지진(Zijin)'이 금요일 세르비아의 도시 보르 근처에 새로운 구리 및 금 광산을 개장했는데, 이것은 '녹색 광산'으로서 세르비아의 유럽 내 구리 생산 점유율을 증가시키는 동시에 '녹색 광산'으로서의 기준을 충족시킬 것으로 예상된다.
쿠카루 페키 광산 개통식에는 알렉산다르 부치치 세르비아 대통령과 천보 세르비아 주재 중국대사가 참석했다.
생산 시설을 둘러본 후, 부치치 대통령은 2018년 세르비아 국영 광산 기업인 RTB 보르를 인수한 지진으로 인해 회사가 붕괴되는 것을 막을 수 있었다고 언급하면서 높은 기술과 생태학적 기준을 높이 평가했다.
한편, 새로운 광산은 "보르와 세르비아 동부 전체에 엄청난 것"이라고 그는 덧붙였다.
지진은 새로 문을 연 '녹색 광산'이 매우 효율적인 광물 처리 기술을 사용하여 세계에서 가장 풍부한 구리와 금 매장지 중 하나를 이용할 것이라고 전했다.
이 중국 회사는 2019년 캐나다 광산업체 네브선을 148만7000달러(약 1억7000만원)에 인수해 쿠카루페키 광산의 지분 소유주이자 운영자가 됐다. 지진은 신기술과 높은 생태학적 기준을 포함해 4억7400만 달러(약 4억7400만 원)를 투자했다.
천보 대사는 Cukaru Peki 광산의 개방은 세르비아의 발전과 중국-세르비아의 협력을 위한 중요한 날이라고 말했다.
"저는 이 광산이 중국, 세르비아, 유럽연합의 기준을 충족시키는 진보된 녹색 광산으로 건설되어 매우 기쁩니다"라고 그녀는 말했다.
지진 덕분에 세르비아의 구리 생산량은 유럽 전체 구리 생산량의 18%에 달할 것이라고 그녀는 덧붙였다. 광산은 세르비아의 경제 발전을 크게 발전시키고 일자리를 창출할 것으로 기대된다.
Serbia, Oct. 22 - Chinese mining company Zijin opened a major new copper and gold mine near the Serbian city of Bor on Friday, which is expected to increase Serbia's copper production share in Europe while meeting the EU standards as a "green mine".
The opening ceremony for the Cukaru Peki mine was attended by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Chen Bo.
Following a tour of the production facilities, Vucic praised the high technology and ecological standards, noting that Zijin's purchase of Serbia's state-owned mining enterprise RTB Bor in 2018 had saved the company from collapse.
Meanwhile, the new mine is "an enormous thing for Bor and the whole of eastern Serbia," he added.
Zijin said that the newly opened "green mine" will exploit one of the richest deposits of copper and gold in the world, using highly efficient mineral processing technology.
The Chinese company acquired Canadian mining company Nevsun at a price of 1,487 million U.S. dollars in 2019, and thereafter became the equity owner and operator of the Cukaru Peki mine. Zijin invested 474 million U.S. dollars in the establishment of the new mine, including new technologies and higher ecological standards.
Chen said that the opening of the Cukaru Peki mine marks an important day for the development of Serbia, and for China-Serbia cooperation.
"I am very happy that the mine is built as an advanced green mine, which fulfils Chinese, Serbian and EU standards," she said.
Thanks to Zijin, the total copper production of Serbia will reach 18 percent of overall copper production in Europe, she added. This will significantly advance Serbia's economic development, and create jobs.
