이집트 사상 최초로 여성 판사들이 임명됐다.
신화통신에 따르면 여성 판사 98명이 판사 임용 선서를 마친 뒤 정식 임용됐다.
이번에 임용된 한 여성 판사는 "오늘은 이집트 여성들의 승리의 날이고, 직업에서 남녀의 평등을 규정한 헌법 조항이 시행되는 날"이라고 말했다.
지난 10월 19일 98명의 여성들이 헌법 선서를 하고 이집트의 주요 사법 기관 중 하나인 이집트 국무원의 첫 여성 판사가 되었다.
이집트의 압델-파타 알-시시 대통령은 사법부 여성들에게 권한을 부여하려는 이 나라의 계획에 따라, 3월에 한때 남성 판사의 전유물이었던 두 사법 기관인 국무위원회와 검찰에게 여성을 임명하라고 지시했다.
평의회의 첫 번째 여성 위원들은 48명의 판사를 보조 고문으로, 50명의 판사를 보조 고문으로 포함시켰다.
타하 카수라 국무원 부의장은 "이런 움직임은 이집트의 여성들에게 소중한 선물"이라고 말했다. 카르수아는 새 판사들이 모든 평의회 법원에서 정의를 실현하고 갈등을 해결하는 데 있어 남성 판사와 같은 임무를 맡게 될 것이라고 덧붙였다.
1946년에 설립된 국무원은 행정 분쟁, 징계 사건 및 항소, 결정에 관련된 분쟁을 심판할 수 있는 독점적인 권한을 가진 독립적인 사법 기관이다.
새로 취임한 판사 중 한 명인 림 무사씨는 "국무원 판사로 임명돼 뿌듯하다"며 "행정 사법부의 일원이 되는 것은 영광"이라고 말했다. 무사씨는 75년 동안 여성 판사가 없었기에 여성이 평의회에서 판사가 되는 것은 불가능하다고 생각했다.
그녀는 "오늘은 이집트 여성들의 승리이며, 남녀의 직업 평등을 규정한 헌법 조항이 시행되고 있다"라고 말하면서, 모든 여성들이 모든 직업에서 더 나은 성과를 거두도록 하는 동기 부여라고 강조했다.
이집트 국가여성평의회(NCW)는 여성들에게 더 많은 권한을 부여하려는 이집트 지도부의 정치적 의지를 보여주는 조치로 국무원 여성 판사의 임명에 박수를 보냈다.
NCW의 회장인 Maya Mursi는 "이전 세대의 여성들의 꿈이 마침내 실현되었다"라고 말했다. 그리고 그는 역사적인 순간을 목격하게 되어 행복하다고 덧붙였다.

CAIRO, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- Nearly 100 females have taken the constitutional oath on Tuesday and become the first female judges at Egypt's State Council, one of the country's main judicial bodies.
In line with the county's plan to empower women in the judiciary sector, Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi instructed in March the State Council and the Public Prosecution, the two judicial bodies once exclusive for male judges, to appoint females.
The first batch of female members at the council included 48 judges as assistant counselors and 50 as vice-counselors.
"The move is a dear gift for women in Egypt," said Taha Karsoua, vice president of the State Council. Karsoua said the decision is an implementation of Sisi's directives, adding that the new judges will have the same tasks as male judges in achieving justice and settling conflicts in all the council courts.
The State Council, established in 1946, is an independent judicial body that is exclusively competent to adjudicate administrative disputes, disciplinary cases and appeals, and disputes pertaining to its decisions.
"I'm so proud to be appointed as a judge in the State Council. It is an honor to be part of the administrative judiciary," said Reem Moussa, one of the newly sworn-in judges. Moussa said she had thought it was impossible for a woman to become a judge at the council because it was a group without female judges for 75 years.
"Today is a victory for Egyptian females, and an implementation of the constitution articles that stipulate equality between males and females in jobs," she told Xinhua, reiterating that it is an incentive for all females to achieve better in all jobs.
Egypt's National Council for Women (NCW) applauded the appointment of female judges in the State Council as a move showing the political will of the county's leadership to further empower women.
"The dreams of earlier generations of women finally come true," said Maya Mursi, head of the NCW, adding that she was happy to witness such a historic moment that crowned the Egyptian women's course.
