서울 한양대학교에서 열린 AI4HER APAC 컨퍼런스가 12일 막을 올렸다. 이번 행사는 인공지능(AI) 기술의 윤리적 개발과 책임 있는 활용을 중심 주제로, 아시아 태평양 지역에서 지속 가능한 발전 방안을 모색하기 위해 마련됐다.
첫날 컨퍼런스에서는 세계적 권위의 연사들이 참여해 인공지능 기술이 가져올 변화와 도전 과제에 대해 심도 있는 논의를 펼쳤다. Ernst & Young 글로벌 책임 AI 리더인 안스가 코에네는 "AI 개발 과정에서 윤리적 리더십이 갖는 중요성을 간과해서는 안 된다"며, 기술의 책임 있는 활용이 사회의 지속 가능성을 담보한다고 강조했다. 뉴사우스웨일스 대학교의 토비 월시 교수는 "AI 기술이 긍정적 변화를 이끌어내기 위해서는 적절한 규제와 사회적 책임이 필수"라며, 인공지능이 가져올 미래를 전망했다.
Google DeepMind의 알렉산드리아 벨라스 공공정책 연구원은 글로벌 정책 동향과 윤리적 기준에 대해 발표하며, 국가 간 협력의 필요성을 역설했다. 한양대학교 글로벌 개발 프론티어 센터의 이창원 교수는 "AI 기술이 사회적 가치를 창출하는 데 기여해야 한다"며 지속 가능한 발전과 기술 융합의 중요성을 언급했다.
행사는 의료, 교육, IoT, 스마트 시티, 비즈니스 등 다양한 산업 분야에서의 AI 책임 활용 방안을 다루는 세션으로 이어졌다. 특히 녹색 기술과 ESG(환경·사회·지배구조), 윤리적 AI 리더십, 비즈니스 혁신 등과 같은 주제가 주요 논의로 다뤄졌다.

SEOUL — The AI4HER APAC Conference opened on December 12 at Hanyang University, bringing together thought leaders and industry experts to discuss the ethical development of artificial intelligence and its role in fostering sustainable growth across the Asia-Pacific region.
The opening day featured prominent speakers who provided deep insights into the challenges and opportunities posed by AI technologies. Ansgar Koene, Global Responsible AI Leader at Ernst & Young, underscored the importance of ethical leadership in AI development, emphasizing that responsible use of technology is crucial for ensuring societal sustainability. Toby Walsh, a professor at the University of New South Wales, highlighted the necessity of regulation and accountability, arguing that “AI must be guided by clear principles to drive positive change.”
Alexandria Velas, Public Policy Researcher at Google DeepMind, presented the latest trends in AI policy and ethics, advocating for stronger global collaboration to address emerging challenges. Changwon Lee, Director of the Global Development Frontier Center at Hanyang University, stressed the importance of leveraging AI for creating societal value and fostering sustainable progress.
The conference also included sessions on the responsible application of AI in various sectors, including healthcare, education, IoT, smart cities, and business. Topics such as green technology and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance), ethical AI leadership, and business acceleration were at the forefront of the discussions.
